Jinan University (JNU for short), located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, was founded in 1906. It is the first overseas Chinese institution of higher learning founded by the state in China. It is directly under the leadership of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.
