The Life of the Characters in Tan's Works
Professor Tan is a famous contemporary music educator in China, the first generation of highly respected violinist in China, and the pioneer of violin making in China. Professor Tan's life is closely related to the cause of modern music in China.

Tan1June, 907 10 was born in a doctor's family in Qingdao. 1922 began to learn music and violin. At the age of 20 1927, he joined the Shanghai Ministry of Industry Symphony Orchestra and became the first China musician. Since 1926, he has taught in Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Xinhua Art Institute, National Conservatory of Music and Xingzhi Art School. After the founding of New China, from 65438 to 0949, Mayor Chen Yi appointed him as the vice president of Shanghai Conservatory of Music and concurrently the head of the orchestra department. From 65438 to 0954, he served as the representative of the first to fifth people's congresses in Shanghai. 65438-0957 Member of the Standing Committee of NLD Shanghai Municipal Committee and Dean of NLD Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He used to be vice chairman and consultant of Shanghai Musicians Association. Since 1980s, he has been a consultant of NLD Shanghai Municipal Committee. 1977 Up to now, he has served as the Standing Committee of the 5th and 6th CPPCC in Shanghai.

Professor Tan's educational career lasted for 76 years. For decades, with his rich experience in music education, in accordance with the law of music education and the advanced concept of keeping pace with the times, he has led and guided his peers to teach students in accordance with their aptitude and trained a number of music talents. China's violin education and performance have reached the world-class level in several decades. Trained violinists have won many awards in the world. Professor Tan has made great contributions to the development of Chinese violin industry. There are countless students who have studied violin with Professor Tan. Among their peers are famous composers, and their descendants include Zheng, Yuan Peiwen, Li Muzhen, Zhou Binyou, Gao Shishu, Tan, Ni Wenzhen, Li Weigang, Qian Zhou, Hua Tianzuo and Zhou Xiuwei.

As an expert in musical instruments, he has been making advanced violins since 1930s. He led his colleagues to start their violin-making career in China. With the support of Dean He Luting, Professor Tan founded the Musical Instrument Factory of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 195 1. From 65438 to 0956, he personally served as the director of the Musical Instrument Research Institute of the Ministry of Light Industry. In the same year, he started a national violin making training course. The trainees of the training course later became masters of violin making or directors and backbones of violin factories all over the country. 1978 opened the first violin making major in China Conservatory of Music, and trained a batch of senior professionals in violin making.

Professor Tan is knowledgeable, proficient in English, Japanese, German and French, and good at photography and painting. He studied architecture at Hujiang University, obtained the qualification of architect, and has a good knowledge of acoustics. Caohejing Concert Hall of Shanghai Conservatory of Music (now East Auditorium of Shanghai Normal University), which he led and participated in the design and construction in 1950s, was the best performance venue in Shanghai at that time. Tan has written dozens of articles on music education, violin playing, production, music acoustics and so on, forming his own set of teaching ideas and theories.

Tan has participated in margaret long Tibo International Violin Competition (198 1). Judge of Karl Flajs International Violin Competition (1982). 1982 received an honorary doctorate from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and 1983 received an honorary certificate from the American Symphony Orchestra Association.

Because of Professor Tan's outstanding contribution to China's music industry, he received the first batch of special government subsidies from the State Council on 199 1. In 200 1 year, it was awarded the first Golden Bell Award "Medal of Lifetime Honor" by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Musicians Association. 1984 was included in Who's Who in the World published by new york.

Tan Cong 1949 was the vice president of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and from 1984 to 2002, he was the consultant of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, spanning 53 years. In the history of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Tan made an indelible contribution.
