Guangxi University for Nationalities was founded in March 1952. Originally the Guangxi branch of the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities), it was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities in June, 438+0953, and in June, it was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, 438+0958. In February 2006, it was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is a national college jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and it is one of the two key universities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period. After 58 years of development, it has become a comprehensive national institution of higher learning with large scale, complete disciplines, strong teachers, complete infrastructure, good school-running benefits, continuous improvement of personnel training quality and great development potential.

The school is located on the beautiful Acacia Lake in Nanning, Guangxi. The east and west campuses cover an area of 1983 mu, of which Xiangsihu College (independent college) covers an area of 300 mu. The completed campus has a total construction area of 480,000 square meters, and the second phase of the West Campus under construction has a total area of 6,543,800 square meters. The green coverage rate of East Campus reached 58. 14%, and it was rated as "National Model Greening Unit" in 2006.
