North China Electric Power University is a national key construction university of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Platform" directly under the Ministry of Education. The school is headquartered in Beijing and has Baoding campus. The school has more than 3,000 faculty members, more than 20,000 full-time undergraduates and 0/0,000 graduate students. The school covers an area of 1.600 mu, and the building area is 1 10,000 square meters.

School 1958 was founded in Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Electric Power Institute. 1969 moved from Beijing to Hebei and changed its name to Hebei Electric Power Institute and North China Electric Power Institute. 1995 North China Electric Power University and Beijing Institute of Electric Power Economics (including Beijing graduate department of North China Electric Power University) merged to form North China Electric Power University. In 2003, during the reform of the national power system, the school was placed under the management of the Ministry of Education by the State Power Company. At the same time, a board of directors composed of State Grid Corporation, China Southern Power Grid Corporation, China Huaneng Group Corporation, China Datang Corporation, china huadian corporation, China Guodian Corporation, China Power Investment Corporation and the Ministry of Education was established to build North China Electric Power University. 20 13 the board of directors of north China electric power university was changed, and the board members included 7 central electric power enterprises and 9 units including China electric power enterprise association and north China electric power university.
