Sun Yat-sen University, referred to as Zhong Da for short, is located in Guangzhou, directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is a comprehensive national key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and Guangdong Province, and ranks among the first batch of national "double-class" A, "985 Project" and "21Project".

The school has built a large-scale campus network covering five campuses in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen. Based on the dual-stack technology of IPv4/IPv6, the Internet outlet bandwidth is 32Gbps (including the IPv6 outlet bandwidth 1 Gbps), and there are about 57,000 users accessing the network, with the highest concurrent IP number of 80,000.

The wireless network adopts independent networking mode and is designed based on flat architecture, covering more than 230 buildings including administrative offices, public teaching buildings, libraries, canteens and student dormitories in three campuses and five campuses, and deploying more than 27,000 wireless access points.
