Xi Anhua University is a full-time comprehensive private university which is headed by Shaanxi Provincial Education Department and sponsored by Xi Municipal Committee of NLD. It is the only poverty alleviation demonstration university in China.

In 2002, the school launched a new measure of "helping the poor through education and helping students with credit". In cooperation with the bank, the poor students who are self-reliant and enterprising are guaranteed by the school to gradually repay their loans after their employment. This move enables poor students to complete their college studies with less tuition and fees. It has a library, an electronic reading room, various laboratories, an auditorium for 10,000 people, an indoor gymnasium, a swimming pool and complete teaching and living facilities such as water, electricity, heating, communication, transportation and medical services. Campus greening rate reached 70%.
