English abbreviation of Northwest University
The English name of Northwest University is Northwest University, or NWU for short.

Northwest University was founded in 1902 Shaanxi University Hall and Shi Jing University Hall. 19 12 is called Northwest University. 1923 changed to National Northwest University. 1937, the National Peking University, Beiping Normal University, Beiyang Institute of Technology and Beiping Research Institute, which moved westward to Shaanxi, formed the National xi 'an Temporary University. 1938 was renamed as National Northwest United University, and 1939 was renamed as National Northwest University. After the founding of New China, it is a comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education.

1950 changed its name to Northwest University. 1958 transferred to the director of Shaanxi province. 1978 was identified as a national key university. Now it is a national "double-class" construction university, the Ministry of Education and the "2 1 1 project" construction university in Shaanxi Province.

The school has three campuses: Taibai Campus, Taoyuan Campus and Chang 'an Campus, covering a total area of more than 2,360 mu. At present, there are 24 colleges (departments) and graduate schools, 1 Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools and 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals. There are 88 undergraduate majors, of which 37 are selected as national first-class undergraduate majors.

There are 24 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 37 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 18 professional degree authorized categories, and 24 post-doctoral research stations. At present, there are two "world-class disciplines" in geology and archaeology, 1 national key discipline (covering 5 two disciplines), 4 national key disciplines in two disciplines and 1 national key discipline.
