Gezhi academy

Lingnan University was originally founded by American Christian Church in old China, and later owned by China people. It is a private university.

Its predecessor was Gezhi Academy, which was founded in 1888 (14th year of Guangxu) and its school site was located in Guangzhou.

1904 moved to Le Kang Village, Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and was renamed Lingnan School.

Since 1930s, Lingnan University has set up schools of arts, science, engineering, agriculture, business and medicine. Graduate students are enrolled in science and master's degrees are awarded.
