The school was formed by the merger of Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Science and Technology and West China University of Medical Sciences. The former Sichuan University was founded in 1896 by Lu, Governor of Sichuan Province. It is the earliest modern institution of higher learning in southwest China.

2. University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

The school, formerly known as Chengdu Institute of Telecommunications Engineering, was formed by the merger of Jiaotong University (now Shanghai Jiaotong University and Xi Jiaotong University), Nanjing Institute of Technology (now Southeast University) and South China University of Technology (now South China University of Technology). 1956. 1960 is listed as a national key institution of higher learning; 196 1 was identified as one of the seven national defense industrial colleges.

3. Southwest Jiaotong University

The school started from 1896 Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway Official School. Since then, it has been moved and renamed many times. Tangshan Jiaotong University enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad, and is known as the "Cornell of the East", especially in civil engineering, mining and metallurgy. 4. Southwestern University of Finance and Economics

The school started with Guanghua University founded by 1925 in Shanghai. 1938 Guanghua University moved to Chengdu in the bonfire of the Anti-Japanese War and established Guanghua University Chengdu Branch. 1946 changed its name to private Chenghua University. 1952 Private Chenghua University was changed to public, and some departments were transferred to form Sichuan University of Finance and Economics.

5. Sichuan Agricultural University

The predecessor of Sichuan Agricultural University is Sichuan Tongsheng Agricultural School, which was founded in 1906. It was merged into Sichuan University twice in 1927 and 1935. 1956, the Agricultural College of Sichuan University moved to Ya 'an, the former capital of Xikang Province, and established Sichuan Agricultural College. 1985, it was renamed Sichuan Agricultural University.
