It is very difficult for Dalian University of Technology to take the postgraduate entrance examination. The school has formed a multidisciplinary education system that focuses on science and engineering, with the coordinated development of science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, philosophy and art. The school has a graduate school, with 2/kloc-0 independent colleges in the main campus, 3 independent colleges in the development zone campus and 3 independent colleges in Panjin campus.

There are 29 doctoral programs in first-class disciplines, 37 doctoral programs in two disciplines/KLOC-0, 42 master programs in first-class disciplines, 223 master programs in two disciplines, 26 post-doctoral research stations, and 4 doctoral programs in business administration (MBA, including EMBA), enterprise management (MPA), architecture, finance, applied statistics, materials and chemicals, and civil water conservancy.

At present, there are 9/kloc-0 undergraduate majors and 80 undergraduate majors enrolled, including 23 with national characteristics, 40 national first-class undergraduate majors in the "Double Million Plan", 26 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 25 national engineering education certification (assessment) majors, and 4 majors have been selected into the "Strong Foundation Plan" of the Ministry of Education.

It has four national education and teaching bases (National Engineering Chemistry Teaching Base, National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, National Integrated Circuit Talent Training Base and National Basic Science Research and Teaching Talent Training Base) and eight national experimental teaching demonstration centers (Basic Chemistry Experimental Teaching Center, Engineering Training Center and Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Center).
