At the beginning of the building, there were only 400 square meters of buildings, with more than 100 reading seats. By 1992, a new library donated by Sir Run Run Run Shaw, a famous patriot in Hong Kong, and invested by the provincial government was completed, with a total area of 14533 square meters. In May, 20001year, Shu Hua Electronic Intelligence Center of Hebei University, donated by Hongshufutang Foundation, was completed. The mirror website of China Academic Journal Network launched by the center is the largest academic journal database in China.

From June, 5438 to October, 2002 10, our school has connected the digital libraries of colleges and universities in Hebei Province and the Superstar Digital Library, and now there are about 200,000 kinds of digital books available online.

In September 2002, the City College Branch of the new campus of Hebei University was established, covering an area of 4,800 square meters, with 80,000 books, 224 Chinese periodicals and 28 newspapers, all of which are open-shelf.

Hebei University Library actively carries out library modernization. 1996 introduced Motorola's M9 12 minicomputer and communication computer company's library integrated automation system TOTALS. In February, 1999 upgraded the original TOTALS, realizing the integrated automation of editing, circulation, periodicals, public inquiry, fund management and Internet information release with high efficiency. T2 system also realizes the online query of library information resources, provides bibliographic information of Hebei University Library to the Internet through the connection between the campus network of Hebei University and the Internet, and can search rich information resources on the Internet.

The library of Hebei University is a member library of the Library and Information Work Committee of colleges and universities in China. The secretariat of Hebei Library and Information Work Committee and the editorial board of Hebei Science and Technology Library are located in the library. The library of Hebei University has established and maintained close literature exchange relations with more than 400 libraries in the United States, Japan, Canada, Hongkong, Guangdong and Taiwan Province.
