Henan University is located in Kaifeng, a famous historical and cultural city and the ancient capital of the Eight Dynasties. It used to be the seat of Henan Gongyuan. The Department of Water Resources and Finance were placed under Wuhan University and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and the headquarters was renamed Henan Normal College. Later, after passing through Kaifeng Normal University and Henan Normal University, the name of Henan University was restored on 1984.
