To understand Yao Ban, we should first introduce Professor Yao Qizhi, the core figure of Yao Ban and the founder of Yao Ban. Professor Yao Qizhi, Ph.D., graduated from the Physics Department of Harvard University and the Computer Department of the University of Illinois, and is a veritable university tyrant. After graduation, he taught at MIT, Stanford University and Princeton University successively, and made great achievements in algorithms, cryptography and quantum computing. In 2000, he won the Turing Award, also known as the Nobel Prize in computer science. After winning the prize, he gave up his tenure as a tenured professor at Princeton University, gave up his high salary and returned to Tsinghua University to teach, and devoted himself to training computer talents in China.
When Professor Yao Qizhi returned to China, he found that the computer technology in China was far behind the first-class universities abroad. So in 2005, Professor Yao Qizhi applied for and founded the Yao Ban, dedicated to shortening the gap between China's computer technology and foreign computer technology. Since then, talented people have come forth in large numbers in Yao Ban. The most famous of them are Yin Qi, the founder of Defiance Technology, and Lou Tiancheng, the founder of Ma Xiao Zhixing. Yin Qi and Tsinghua graduated together and developed face recognition technology, which has surpassed Facebook in results and the recognition rate is as high as 97.27%. Lou Tiancheng worked for Google and Baidu successively, and later founded his own company to develop autonomous driving, which has occupied a leading position in his field.
The talents trained by Yao Ban have made great achievements in the fields of mathematics, computer, life science and information intersection. Besides Yao Ban, there is also an artificial intelligence class in Tsinghua University called Zhiban, which was also founded by Yao Qizhi. These two classes will be the leaders of computer and artificial intelligence in China in the future.
