Located in Shanghai, Fuda University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). Fudan University, formerly known as Fudan College, was founded in 1905, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning independently founded by the people in China. 1952 after the adjustment of departments, the school has become a comprehensive university focusing on basic teaching and research of arts and sciences. Shanghai Medical University, formerly the National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University Medical College founded by 1927, is the first national medical college independently founded by the people of China. In 2000, Fudan University merged with Shanghai Medical University to form a new Fudan University.

It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and jointly established with Shanghai. After 120 years of unremitting efforts, Shanghai Jiaotong University has become a first-class domestic and internationally renowned university with "comprehensiveness, research and internationalization".
The school was founded in 1896, formerly known as Nanyang Public College,191renamed Nanyang University Hall, 1929 renamed national chiao tung university, and 1949 renamed Jiaotong University; 1957 experienced westward separation and was divided into Shanghai part of Jiaotong University and Xi 'an part. 1959, the name of "Shanghai jiaotong university" was introduced by Shanghai part of jiaotong university; 1999, the former Shanghai Agricultural College merged; In 2005, it merged with the former Shanghai Second Medical University.

East China Normal University was founded on June 195 1 month 1 6, and transferred to some departments of Daxia University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925). 1972 merged with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education and other institutions and changed its name to Shanghai Normal University. 1980 Restore the name of East China Normal University. 1997- 1998, Shanghai Preschool Teachers College, Shanghai Education College and Shanghai Second Education College merged successively.
