The Department of Economics of Shaanxi University of Finance and Economics-Northwest University was formerly Peking University Law and Business College, which was founded in 1929. 1960 Shaanxi institute of finance and trade was established on the basis of the economics department of northwest university, 1963 was renamed northwest institute of finance and economics, and 1978 was named Shaanxi institute of finance and economics. On April 17, 2000, Shaanxi Institute of Finance and Economics affiliated to China People's Bank merged with xi Jiaotong University to form a new Xi Jiaotong University.
