School of Civil Engineering, formerly known as Department of Civil Engineering, was founded in 1958. Civil engineering specialty is a national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site, a national characteristic specialty, the first batch of pilot specialties for training outstanding engineers by the Ministry of Education, and a service specialty of key undergraduate universities in Fujian Province.

Civil engineering is a first-class key discipline in Fujian province and a key discipline with Fujian characteristics. Structural engineering is a national key discipline. According to editor Maigoo, the college has a doctoral program and a postdoctoral research station in the first-class discipline of civil engineering, and a master's degree in the first-class discipline of civil engineering.

It has the national and local engineering research centers of information technology for earthquake prevention and disaster reduction in civil engineering, the research center of sustainable innovation bridge engineering in Fujian University, and the national key discipline construction project "2 1 1 project".

The School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation of Fuzhou University is one of the five departments at the beginning of Fuzhou University. Among them, the discipline of mechanical engineering is 2 1 1 national key discipline, and it is a double-class "peak discipline" in Fujian Province.

The major of "Mechanical Design, Manufacture and Automation" is a backbone major of mechanical engineering, a popular trump card major in Fuzhou, a number of reform pilot majors of the Ministry of Education, a national specialty, and the first batch of first-class undergraduate majors in China. After more than 60 years of construction, a complete professional talent training system covering undergraduate, master, doctoral and postdoctoral students has been formed.

It has a first-class discipline master's degree authorization point, a first-class discipline doctor's degree authorization point and a postdoctoral research mobile station, and there are several two disciplines degree authorization points under the first-class discipline degree authorization point.
