Inner Mongolia Vocational College of Mechanical and Electrical Technology is a public full-time ordinary college approved by the people's government of the autonomous region and put on record by the Ministry of Education in 2003. Its predecessor was Inner Mongolia Industrial School and Inner Mongolia Water Conservancy School founded by 1952. College is an excellent backbone vocational college in China and a high-quality college in the autonomous region (ranking first in the autonomous region).

National high-quality vocational colleges, the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national high-skilled personnel training demonstration bases, the national key construction vocational education teacher training base and the national vocational college principal training base. The College is a member of the Presidium of the Sixth National Joint Conference of Vocational College Presidents and a member of the Steering Committee of Cultural Quality Education in Vocational Colleges of the Ministry of Education.

20 19 became the only project construction unit in the autonomous region that was selected as one of the 56 national "High-level Vocational Colleges and Specialty Construction Plans with China Characteristics".

The college is located in the higher vocational park of Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The new campus covers an area of 837 mu, with a building area of 29 1.7 million square meters and a school scale of 1.0000 students.

The college has a team of high-quality teachers who combine full-time and part-time jobs, including 207 with associate senior titles or above, 259 with master's degrees or above, "famous teachers" 13, "new teaching talents" 12, and "excellent teaching team" 15 in the autonomous region. The proportion of double-qualified teachers is over 80%.
