University of Science and Technology Beijing, 1984, became one of the first universities in China to formally establish a graduate school. 1988, renamed University of Science and Technology Beijing. 1May, 1997, the school entered the national "2 1 1 project" to build universities. In 2006, the school became the first batch of "985 Project" universities to build an innovative platform for superior disciplines. In 20 14, the iron and steel technology collaborative innovation center led by universities with University of Science and Technology Beijing and Northeastern University as the core universities was successfully selected into the national "201/plan".
On 20 17, the school was selected as a national "double-class" construction university. In 20 18, the school was approved by the national defense science and technology bureau and the Ministry of education to build colleges and universities. At present, the school has developed into a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education focusing on engineering, science, management, literature, economics and law.
The school has continuously expanded the field of social services and development space, and signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with more than 90 provincial and municipal governments and large enterprises and institutions in China. At the same time, aiming at the forefront of the world, the school has strengthened international cooperation, established close friendly and cooperative relations with more than 220 domestic and foreign universities and scientific research institutions, such as Aachen University of Technology, Tohoku University, Cambridge University, and Michigan University, actively constructed a new pattern of international cooperation and exchange, and accelerated the improvement of the level of international education.
