China University Student Physics Competition (CUPT) is a national competition founded by China based on the International Young Physicists Competition (IYPT) supported by the Ministry of Education, and it is one of the important innovation competitions for university students to implement the national long-term development plan. CUPT is organized and implemented by colleges and universities with the participation of college students. It is a physical competition in the form of team debate and confrontation. Based on the basic idea of cultivating participants' innovative consciousness, innovative ability, cooperative spirit and practical ability, it discusses the basic knowledge, theoretical analysis, experimental scheme and result discussion for solving a given open physics problem. CUPT uses Chinese as its working language, and students conduct research according to given open physical problems. The basic knowledge and experimental scheme related to the problem must be found and designed by the contestants and debated with other teams according to the results. The success of this game depends on teamwork. The competition has got rid of the mode of exam-oriented education, and embodies the concept of combining knowledge learning with exploration and practice, combining physics with daily life, combining academic ability with interpersonal skills, and combining individual and team cooperation. The rules of the game are basically the same as IYPT.
