1. China Ocean University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and a high-level university supported by the national "21Project" and "985 Project". The school was founded in 1952, formerly known as Shandong Ocean University.

2. Qingdao University of Science and Technology, a key university in Shandong Province, was founded in 1950 and formerly known as Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology.

3. Qingdao Hengxing Institute of Science and Technology, a private undergraduate college, was founded in 2002 and is one of the first private colleges in Shandong Province to obtain the qualification of an undergraduate education institution.

4. Qingdao Port Vocational and Technical College, a full-time higher vocational college, was founded in 1978 and formerly known as Qingdao Port School.
