At the end of 1949, the library of this school moved from Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue to Changsha and merged with the library of Hunan University.
During the period of 1953, the departments of colleges and universities in China were greatly adjusted. On the basis of the former National Normal University Library, most libraries of Hunan University and some university libraries of Henan Pingyuan University, Jiangxi Nanchang University and Changsha have been added, forming a considerable hunan normal university library.
1956, 196 1, 1992, the libraries of Changsha Normal University, Hunan Institute of Physical Education, Hunan Art College and Hunan Library and Information School were all merged into our library.
199 1 year 1 1 month, Hong Kong patriot Sir Run Shaw donated money, and the Hunan Provincial People's Government and the school invested150,000 yuan to build the Shaw Library with a square meter of 17800.
In 2000, the library of this school merged with the library of Hunan Education College.

In 2002, the library merged with the library of Hunan Medical College.
In 2009, the museum was awarded the title of "National Key Protection Unit of Ancient Books" by the State Council.
