The School of Life Sciences of Wuhan University has a long history, which can be traced back to 1893, the Gezhi Department which trained natural history talents at the beginning of Wuhan University, the Biology Department of 1922, the Virology Department of 1978, and the Biology Department, Virology Department and Bioengineering Center of 1992 were merged to form the School of Life Sciences.
