Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, founded in 1956, is one of the first four universities of traditional Chinese medicine in China after the birth of New China. From 65438 to 0993, Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was renamed "Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine", which was one of the earliest universities in China. In 2000, the former Shanghai Medical College was merged into our school. In 2003, in order to implement the layout adjustment plan of colleges and universities in Shanghai, the whole school moved to Zhangjiang High-tech Park in Pudong, which became an important part of Zhangjiang Medicine Valley.

There are more than 7,400 students in the school, including 349 doctoral students, 827 master students, 467 undergraduates (including higher vocational colleges)/kloc-0, 987 adult students, 588 long-term international students, and more than 600 short-term international students every year. The total number of international students accounts for 13.26%.

The school has 19 secondary colleges, departments and centers, 5 affiliated hospitals, 19 medical teaching and research consortium hospitals, 14 affiliated research institutes and 9 research centers. It has the right to award doctoral degrees in three first-class disciplines: traditional Chinese medicine, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, and has 15 doctoral programs, 23 master programs and 3 postdoctoral mobile stations. The scope of doctoral degree award covers all disciplines of Chinese medicine; 28 undergraduate and junior college majors (directions); There are 9 undergraduate and junior college majors in continuing education.

From 65438 to 0999, the school successfully passed the first batch of undergraduate teaching excellent level evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and now it is the national college students' cultural quality education base, the national basic scientific research and teaching personnel training base, and the national college students' Wushu training base. It is one of the few universities with three talent training bases at the same time. The school also has the largest museum of traditional Chinese medicine in China and is listed as one of the "Top Ten Popular Science Bases" in Shanghai.

As the earliest institution of higher learning of traditional Chinese medicine, it has gathered famous doctors and talents for 50 years. Cheng Menxue, the first president, is a famous TCM doctor and TCM educator in China. In modern China, he was the first person to set up a special school of traditional Chinese medicine. A large number of famous doctors at sea have devoted themselves to the teaching and clinical work of the school, including many descendants of the school, Chua's gynecology, Xu's pediatrics and Gu's surgery. After the reform and opening-up, more than 10 people have been listed as tutors of the national famous traditional Chinese medicine inheritance class by state administration of traditional chinese medicine, and more than 90% of the "Shanghai famous old Chinese medicine practitioners" named by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government are famous experts in the system. Driven by the older generation of Chinese medicine doctors, in recent years, many young and middle-aged academic backbones have entered the high-level talent training programs such as "National Million Talents", "National Youth Fund", "Outstanding Talents of the Ministry of Education in the New Century", "Shanghai Leading Talents" and "Shanghai Leading Talents", and the number ranks among the top Chinese medicine colleges and universities in China, laying a solid talent foundation for the sustainable development of the school.

Our school moved eastward to Zhangjiang, Pudong in September 2003. At present, the school is located in the research and education area of Zhangjiang High-tech Park in Pudong, covering an area of more than 650 mu (including living quarters), which is about three times the total area of our original Lingling Campus, Dong 'an Campus and Fengxian Campus. The campus has a beautiful environment and complete teaching facilities, with a total construction area of 156800 square meters. There are teaching building, experimental building, library and information building, administrative building, foreign affairs building, sports center and museum building. The new campus is adjacent to Jinke Road in the east, Keyuan Road in the west, Lujiabang in the north and Cai Lunlu in the south. It is about 20 minutes' walk from Zhangjiang Station of Metro Line 2. Bus lines such as Xuchuan Line and Tangchuan Line can reach Zhangjiang Station of Metro Line 2, and bus lines such as Bridge Line 5, Bridge Line 6 and Zhangnan Line can reach the school gate directly.

The new campus also has modern teaching and sports facilities. All classrooms are equipped with network interfaces; Sports facilities such as stadiums, swimming pools, indoor gymnasiums and tennis courts equipped with standard plastic runways. In addition to the teaching building, there are scientific research and experiment centers (with all kinds of advanced scientific research instruments) and teaching and experiment centers (with first-class simulated hospitals and all kinds of student laboratories open all day), which provide students with good skills training conditions. The new campus will strive to build a digital campus, realize the informationization of student management and provide a large number of online teaching resources. The facilities in the student living quarters are relatively complete, and unified socialized management is implemented.

The new school also has a first-class library and information building and a museum of medical history. Our museum is also a popular science education base in Shanghai, which has become an important base for primary and secondary school students in Shanghai to carry out excellent traditional culture education in China. In 2004, Shuguang Hospital, the affiliated hospital of our school, also moved to the research and education zone of Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park, and will be built into one of the four landmark hospitals in Shanghai to provide guarantee for students' clinical practice. At the same time, relying on the advantages and resources of Zhangjiang "Medicine Valley", an R&D base for Chinese medicine education, medical treatment and Chinese medicine will be formed in Pudong, and combined with the technological innovation system of Zhangjiang High-tech Park "Industry-University-Research", it will be developed into an open and diversified academic, information, talent and technology center, which will surely make newer and greater contributions to the cause of Chinese medicine in China.
