It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Fujian Provincial Government, and jointly established by the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau and the Fujian Provincial Government. It is a first-class university in Fujian Province and one of the three key high-level universities in Fujian Province. It is the first batch of master's degree awarding units and the second batch of doctoral degree awarding units in China.
