Central South University, located in Changsha, Hunan Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC).

Ranked in the first batch of "double first-class" (a world-class university), "985 project" and "2 1 1 project", and was selected as the first batch of "11plan".

"20 1 1 plan", "excellent engineer education and training plan", "excellent doctor education and training plan", "excellent legal talents education and training plan" and "national public postgraduate project of building high-level universities" are one of the first five universities in China to carry out eight-year medical education (joint study of bachelor's degree and doctoral degree).

China's first master's degree university in the integration of finger and technology for training active military officers, a national university with typical experience in graduate employment, a top 100 university in China, and an important member of China-Central Asia University Alliance and China-Russia Jiaotong University Alliance.

The development of history

School predecessor

On April 29, 2000, Central South University was formed by the merger of Central South University of Technology, Hunan Medical University and Changsha Railway Institute in the reform of national institutions of higher learning. It can be traced back to Hunan Higher Institute of Technology and Xiangya Medical College founded by 1903 and 19 14 respectively.

Central South University of Technology, formerly known as Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (1952), enjoys a world-renowned mining discipline and is known as "Mining and Metallurgy Huangpu" in China. Changsha Railway Institute, formerly known as Central South Institute of Architecture and Engineering (1953), enjoys the reputation of "Troika" in domestic civil engineering.

Hunan Medical University, formerly known as Xiangya Medical College (19 14), is the earliest institution of higher learning of western medicine in China, enjoying the reputation of "Xiangya in the south and Concord in the north".
