The college consists of four departments and five centers, namely condensed matter physics department, optical information science and technology department, applied physics department, acoustics and microwave physics department and physical experiment center, public physics teaching and research center, theoretical physics research center, physical experiment center, nuclear science and technology research center and physical application development center.

The College of Physics of Jilin University has made remarkable achievements in discipline and specialty construction and has become a leader in the field of physics. 1985, the State Council Academic Degrees Committee approved the School of Physics of Jilin University to establish "the first batch of postdoctoral research mobile stations in physics"; 65438-0986, the condensed matter physics specialty of our college was evaluated as a national key discipline specialty by the Ministry of Education. 1993, the physics discipline of the graduate school was designated as the national training base for basic scientific research and teaching talents by the Ministry of Education. 1997, the physics discipline of the graduate school was evaluated as the first-class discipline doctoral degree awarding unit by the National Academic Degrees Committee, that is, all the first-class disciplines of physics, including theoretical physics, optics, acoustics, magnetism, condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics, nuclear physics and particle physics, plasma physics, etc. In addition, optical engineering, electromagnetic field and microwave technology, measuring technology and instruments have the right to grant master's degrees. 1998, condensed matter physics, optoelectronics and optics were identified as 2 1 1 key disciplines of engineering by the Ministry of Education. In 200 1 year, the Laboratory of Atomic Coherence and Atomic Molecular Spectroscopy was awarded as the key laboratory of the Ministry of Education. With the support of the 2 1 1 project, the world loan project, the national scientific research and talent training base and the school100000 discipline construction fund, the experimental instruments and equipment have been greatly improved. For example, advanced equipment such as OPO laser system and YAG dye laser system are in line with similar international laboratories.
