University of Tsukuba is located in the city of Katz. Except for the University of Tsukuba, most of Tsukuba are agricultural and forestry villages, so Tsukuba is also called Xueyuan City. There are dozens of advanced research institutions in Tsukuba, and the Institute of High Energy Physics in Tsukuba is one of the important research centers of high energy physics in the world. There are more than 7,000 doctors among the 200,000 permanent residents.

University major

An important feature of Tsukuba University since its establishment is the separation of scientific research and education. In education, there are 9 academic groups (which can be understood as the concept of undergraduate majors), and in research, there are 14 research departments, 2 national research institutions and 27 in-school research institutions. Specifically, there are humanities/culture group, social/international group, anthropology group, living environment group, science and technology group, information science group, medical group, sports special group and art special group.
