Candidates who apply for the major of art design (fashion design and performance) in Taiyuan University of Technology (undergraduate) and the major of fashion performance in provincial higher vocational colleges (junior college) must take the unified examination of fine arts major and the provincial joint examination undertaken by Taiyuan University of Technology.

Professional examinations organized by provincial enrollment colleges include: drama, film and television literature of Shanxi University (both art and literature), fine arts of Shanxi Normal University (both calligraphy and art literature), fine arts of taiyuan normal College (both calligraphy and art literature), Chinese language and literature (both drama, film and television literature and literature) and fine arts of Datong University (both calligraphy and art literature).

The minimum qualification requirement for art undergraduate candidates in the unified examination is that the total score of three subjects is not less than 180, of which two subjects are not less than 60.
