From mid-February to April 28th of the same year, Changsha Temporary University moved from Changsha to Kunming. There are three main routes for teachers and students to move to Kunming.
1. Walk to Yunnan, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
Take a boat to Haiphong, Vietnam via Guangzhou and Hong Kong, and then take a train to Kunming. Important professors who take this route include Chen Yinque and others. Professor Chen's wife was left in Hong Kong to be cared for by Xu Dishan because of heart disease. Most teachers, family members and some female students chose this route.
2. Guangxi-Vietnam route
The Guangxi government invited teachers and students from Changsha Linda University to move to Guilin and other places to run schools. The Standing Committee of Linda University adopted the suggestion of Professor Qin Zan, head of the Department of Economics of Peking University, and decided to move to safer Yunnan.
In order to explain to the Guangxi government why the school did not move to Guangxi, the school sent Professor Chen Daisun to Guangxi to explain. Zhu Ziqing, Feng Youlan, Qian Mu, Tang Yongtong and He Lin. There are more than ten people accompanying him, headed by Zhu Ziqing. They traveled from Changsha via Guilin and Liuzhou to Nanning, then via Zhennan to Hanoi, Vietnam, and finally arrived in Kunming along the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway.
Male students with better economic conditions and a few female students also chose this road. They took the train from Changsha to Guilin, then changed trains from Guilin to Liuzhou and Nanning to Vietnam, and arrived in Kunming along the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway.
3. Hunan Guizhou Yunnan Tour Group
This is the most difficult migration route. On February 1938 and 19, teachers and students began to move, with 336 people. Teachers and students entered Guizhou on foot through Xiangxi, Hunan, and finally arrived in Kunming, Yunnan.
On April 28th, teachers and students arrived in Kunming after a long journey. The whole migration journey is about 3000 miles, which may be the longest distance for students to migrate on a large scale. Teachers and students regard this migration as a teaching task, and actively promote anti-Japanese and national salvation on the way, while not forgetting to learn and practice on the way.
Second, the National Changsha Temporary University, referred to as Changsha Linda University for short, is the predecessor of the National Southwest Associated University. It was a temporary university located in Changsha during War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's period, which was composed of Peking University, Tsinghua University and private Nankai University.
1935, Tsinghua University secretly prepared to transfer the school to Changsha, Hunan. 1937 10 More than 600 teachers and students from three schools arrived in Changsha after a long journey. 1937101On October 25th, Changsha Temporary University officially opened.
April 2 1938 The Ministry of Education issued a power generation order, renaming the National Changsha Temporary University as the National Southwest Associated University. From the establishment of Changsha Temporary University in August of 1937 to the termination of its operation in July of 1946, the National Southwest Associated University * * * existed for 8 years, 1 1 month.
