The Software College of Southeast University was established in 20001year1February, and it is one of the first 35 "National Model Software Colleges" approved by the Ministry of Education and the former State Planning Commission. Starting from the spring and autumn of 2002, the college began to recruit undergraduate and graduate students majoring in software engineering.

Adhering to the motto of Southeast University, adhering to the principle of quality first, following the inherent law of higher engineering education and drawing lessons from international advanced experience, the College has built a high-level software engineering technology and engineering management talent training system with "basic teaching improving thinking level, professional teaching improving scientific research quality, experimental teaching improving application ability, practical teaching improving system concept and foreign language teaching improving communication means" as the core. Efforts should be made to cultivate students with strict professional attitude, solid basic knowledge, persistent learning ability, excellent spirit of cooperation, clear systematic thinking, rich technical means, good management level, agile adaptability and innovative spirit of keeping pace with the times, so that our graduates can show distinctive characteristics and strong strength.

The college actively carried out teaching reform, improved the curriculum system, established a high-quality training platform, created a rich multicultural and innovative operation and management model, explored new ways to cultivate applied software talents, and created students' lasting competitiveness. According to the characteristics of software engineering, referring to the international IEEE/ACM CC200 1, SWEBOK, SE2004 and China's CCSE2004 curriculum system and curriculum construction standards, absorbing the experience of excellent curriculum systems at home and abroad, and relying on the advantages of our school in the engineering field, we have formulated a curriculum system that can not only reflect the development of new software technologies but also meet the requirements of enterprises, and "combine theoretical teaching, practical ability training and engineering project practice". The college has designed the training scheme for undergraduates and postgraduates around the four central points of "foundation, strength, system and management". According to the latest professional development and market demand, courses are arranged according to professional theoretical basis, professional technical training and professional practical ability. While emphasizing the foundation and system, we pay attention to tracking new software technologies, and project training runs through the whole teaching activities. The whole curriculum system has the characteristics of clear direction, clear level, field penetration and module combination.

The College has cooperated with more than 40 well-known software companies at home and abroad, such as Microsoft, IBM, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Intel, Motorola, Trend Micro, Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, Citi Software and Infosys, and established a student internship/practice base and joint laboratory in the school, giving all-round support. Microsoft, IBM, Ericsson, Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Cisco and other famous software companies. I also participated in the training of undergraduate/graduate students in our college. The courses hosted by enterprise teachers have broken the traditional pedantic teaching mode, closely linked with practical application, and played a very good role in promoting students' practical ability. Students in our college have a deep understanding of software engineering by participating in practical projects of enterprises.

In terms of international cooperation, the College strives to seek cooperation with domestic and foreign governments, enterprises, educational and scientific research institutions, learn excellent experience in running schools, introduce advanced operating mechanisms and models, hire well-known experts and scholars to participate in the construction, management and teaching practice of the College, and gradually establish its position and reputation in the field of software engineering education. The College employs professors from Purdue University, Missouri University, Bucknell University, Si Long Institute of Technology and Taiwan Jiaotong University, and senior engineers from British, Japanese and Indian software companies as tutors for undergraduate/postgraduate courses, teaching various courses (including practice), and offering lectures on the latest development and cutting-edge technology in software-related fields, so that students can enjoy the teaching mode of advanced countries and regions while expanding their horizons and enhancing their personal technical strength. The College has signed cooperation agreements with Si Long Institute of Technology in Ireland, Calumet College of Engineering in Purdue University, Waseda University in Japan, Queensland University in Australia and Belgian GROUP-T University. , and has carried out comprehensive cooperation in software engineering undergraduate/postgraduate training and teacher exchange. Every year, a group of students go to the above universities for research and internship. Among them, the cooperation with Si Long Institute of Technology in Ireland was commended by the Irish government. In June 2006, when the expert group organized by the Ministry of Education accepted the National Model Software College, the experts spoke highly of the school-enterprise cooperation and international cooperation of our college.

The college actively organizes students to participate in various subject competitions to cultivate their comprehensive quality. The college has formulated a series of measures to encourage and support students to actively participate in various subject competitions related to their majors, and to give support in guiding teachers, experimental environment, books and materials, living conditions and so on. Let students cultivate their abilities, gain experience, build confidence and create a positive learning and research atmosphere. Students have a strong sense of participation and actively participate in various competitions. He has won the national gold medal in the Challenge Cup Undergraduate Entrepreneurship Competition, the special prize in Jiangsu Province, the runner-up in the online information technology competition group of universities in Greater China (the best achievement in Chinese mainland), the first prize in the national undergraduate mathematical model competition, the silver prize in the ACM programming competition, the winning prize in the Microsoft Embedded WinCE competition, and the gold medal in the Jiangsu University Student Physics and Experimental Science and Technology Works Innovation Competition. In China Football robot contest, IBM Project Design Competition, Trend Micro Million Program Competition, Citi Cup Software Competition and many other competitions, we have also achieved good results.

The college organizes students to set up a number of interest groups to guide students to carry out various extracurricular scientific and technological activities, and the exchanges and training at the student level have become routine and organized. All interest groups regularly hold training lectures with different difficulties, give full play to the demonstration and leading role of senior students with strong hands-on ability, promote the persistent pursuit of technology, and form a good atmosphere for learning from each other and sharing learning experiences. Students make full use of their spare time and actively participate in various scientific and technological activities, including SRTP. Over the past six years, more than 30 people have been awarded or commended at or above the provincial level. The college also carries out various software culture activities, organizes the "Software Culture Festival of Southeast University" once a year, invites enterprises to give lectures, and discusses with the college how to cultivate students' technical ability and teamwork awareness through activities, so that students can feel the corporate culture and understand the needs of enterprises. Flash contest, J2ME mobile phone application contest, algorithm integral contest and other competitions have been held successively, making this activity a platform for communication between software and computer enthusiasts in the whole school and a cradle for learning and progress. On the one hand, these activities exercise students' professional skills, on the other hand, they also cultivate students' awareness of serving the society and improve their comprehensive quality.

To sum up, our college has made good achievements in the training of software engineering talents. In 2007, our college was awarded the title of "Software Engineering Postgraduate Joint Training Demonstration Base" by Jiangsu Provincial Education Department and Jiangsu Provincial Academic Degrees Committee. "Software Engineering" and "Network and Communication" were approved by the Ministry of Education as characteristic specialty construction sites. Data Structure and Introduction to Bilingual Physics were selected as "100 bilingual teaching demonstration courses" by the Ministry of Education. Won the "Innovation Collaboration Team Award" of the Ministry of Education -IBM University cooperation; The teaching reform project "Exploration and Practice of Cultivating Engineering Software Talents" won the first prize of Southeast University's teaching achievement.

Due to the training of students in accordance with the goal of "high-level, applied, compound and international" software talents, the graduates of our college are generally of high quality, have a solid foundation and software system analysis and design ability, can skillfully use various mainstream software tools, use advanced engineering methods and technologies to solve practical problems and control software quality, and have good English foundation and English communication ability. Graduates have strong adaptability, wide application range and great social demand. The vast majority of Chinese and foreign-funded enterprises and institutions such as software, communication, post and telecommunications, electric power, aerospace, banking and foreign trade, and the technical and management departments of state organs and other institutions are engaged in software design, research and development, application, consulting, project management, quality assurance, software and other aspects, which have been highly recognized by employers, and graduates are in short supply. More than 700 graduates have worked in famous software companies at home and abroad, and nearly 80% of them have entered famous universities at home and abroad. Quite a few graduates work in famous software companies, such as Microsoft Research Asia, IBM, Ericsson, Motorola, SAP Research Institute, Autodesk and ZTE. Software talents are urgently needed by the country. According to the estimation of Jiangsu Information Industry Department, there will be more than 200,000 software talents in Jiangsu Province in the next few years, and the demand for advanced software talents is more urgent. Therefore, the employment of students in our college will continue to be optimistic.

In order to further improve the training level of high-level software and IT talents in our college, build a training base for software and IT talents aiming at the international advanced level, make greater contributions to the development of China's software and IT industry, and enhance core competitiveness, in June 2007, Southeast University signed an agreement with Suzhou Municipal Government to establish the Software College of Southeast University (Suzhou) in Suzhou Dushu Lake Higher Education Park. The training of all full-time graduate students in our college will be conducted in Software College (Suzhou). Software College (Suzhou) will run a school with a brand-new concept, a brand-new mechanism and a brand-new mode, invest first-class teachers, establish a first-class experimental environment, comprehensively optimize the postgraduate training system, sincerely cooperate with well-known software and IT enterprises at home and abroad, and strive to build the college into a first-class domestic high-level, applied, compound and international training base for software and IT talents, so as to serve the rapid development of national and local economy and social progress.
