Biological science is one of the most developed and influential frontier sciences in the 2/kloc-0 century. This major was approved by the National Basic Science Research and Teaching Talents Training Base on 1996. Committed to cultivating first-class talents who have solid basic knowledge and basic theory and technology of biological sciences in the 2 1 century and are willing to devote themselves to basic research and teaching of life sciences.

This major focuses on cultivating students with extensive and solid basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry, mastering basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills of biological science, and having strong foreign language and computer application ability. He will systematically study zoology and botany, microbiology, ecology, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, evolutionary and developmental biology, genomics, bioinformatics and other courses. Among them, students in the base class will be trained in the mode of "3-year basic+1 year module", and excellent students will be trained in the one-stop system of bachelor, master and doctor. Students enter the research field of tutors from the second grade and receive systematic scientific research training. More than 60% of the graduates will enter the life science major of universities and scientific research institutions for further study (among them, 30-50% of the outstanding students in the base will be recommended to enter the postgraduate stage without taking the exam), and the rest of the graduates can enter universities, scientific research institutions, environmental, health and epidemic prevention departments, and high-tech companies, enterprises and units such as biology, medicine and food.
