Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, called Nanxinda for short, is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It is a provincial university with the characteristics of atmospheric science and the coordinated development of ocean, information, environment and management. Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology Meteorological Observatory is located in the school with the same hardware level as the Central Meteorological Observatory. With the International Joint Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Change and the Collaborative Innovation Center of Climate and Meteorological Disasters, it is the first meteorological institution of higher learning in New China and is known as the "cradle of meteorological talents in China".
Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology 1960 started from the Institute of Meteorology of Nanjing University, formerly known as Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, and was designated as a national key university by the State Council in 1978. Now it is a provincial key construction university jointly established by Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Ministry of Education, China Meteorological Bureau and State Oceanic Administration.
Today, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology adheres to the policy of "open development and joint development", continues to deepen reform, actively cooperates with innovation, strives to improve the quality of personnel training and the ability of scientific and technological innovation, and strives to become a "first-class key university with characteristics" at an early date.
