The University of Helsinki was founded on March 26th, 1640, formerly known as Turku Royal College. Founded in 1640, the University of Helsinki is the largest institution of higher learning in Scandinavia and the oldest and largest university in Finland. 1828 moved from Turku to Helsinki, and then the original name of Turku University was changed to Helsinki University, ranking 78th in the latest world university ranking of 20 13QS. With a history of more than 350 years, Helsinki University is not only the oldest university in Finland, but also the largest institution of higher learning in Northern Europe.
