Harbin Engineering University

Harbin Engineering University, referred to as "Harbin Project", is located in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, and a university jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, Heilongjiang Province, Harbin City and the Navy.

It was rated as "Double First Class", "2 1 1 Project", selected as "985 Innovation Platform of Engineering Superiority Discipline", "1/Plan", Education and Training Plan for Outstanding Engineers, National Innovative Experiment Plan for College Students, National Postgraduate Project for Building High-level Universities, and National Research and Practice of New Engineering.

The first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, the National Innovative Talents Training Demonstration Base, the National College Practice Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, and the University Alliance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The school originated from China People's Liberation Army Military Engineering College (Harbin Military Industry) founded by 1953; 1970, Harbin Institute of Shipbuilding Engineering, with the naval engineering department as the main body, was established in the original site of Harbin military industry; 198 1 became the first unit with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees; 1994, renamed Harbin Engineering University.

As of February 2023, the school covers an area of1400,500 square meters, with a building area of1137,600 square meters, and the library has 7.598 million books. There are 17 colleges (departments and departments) offering 63 undergraduate majors.
