Shanxi Datong University is a provincial full-time multidisciplinary university and a pilot university of "Excellent Doctoral Education and Training Program". In March 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was formed by the merger of the former Yanbei Normal College, Datong Medical College, Datong College and Shanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College.
