Qingdao University is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province. It is the first batch of pilot universities for the comprehensive reform of undergraduate majors in local universities in the "Undergraduate Teaching Project" of the Ministry of Education, and the universities built in Shandong Province and Qingdao and the high-level universities in Shandong Province "compete first".

The earliest source of the school is Qingdao College, which was founded in 1909 and later became Qingdao Medical College.
