1In July, 949, the People's Liberation Army entered Beiping, and the teachers and students of the National Beiping Railway Institute collectively attended the ceremony to welcome the People's Liberation Army into the city. Subsequently, the Central People's Government officially announced the takeover of the National Tangshan Institute of Technology and the National Beiping Railway Management Institute, and announced the establishment of China Jiaotong University on the same day. China Jiaotong University consists of National Tangshan Institute of Technology, National Beiping Railway Management Institute and North China Jiaotong University, which moved from the liberated areas. China Jiaotong University School is headquartered in Beijing, and has jurisdiction over Tangshan Institute of Technology and Beiping School of Management. The Central People's Government appointed Mao Yisheng, a bridge master and alumnus of Tang School, as the principal, and Jin, a railway transportation expert and alumnus of Beijing School, as the vice-principal. At the same time, the disciplines of the two colleges were merged and adjusted. After adjustment, Tangshan Institute of Technology (now Southwest Jiaotong University) focuses on machinery, electricity, civil engineering, mining and metallurgy, while Beijing Management College (now Beijing Jiaotong University) focuses on vehicle operation, finance and telecommunications.
1950, the name of China jiaotong university caused controversy among teachers and students of Shanghai jiaotong university, and their opinions were reflected to the Ministry of railways. Therefore, in June 1950, Minister Teng specially held a meeting in Beijing, and invited Professor Wu, then director of the school affairs committee of Jiaotong University, to attend the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Vice Minister of Railways Wu, President Mao Yisheng, Vice President Jin, Director of Academic Affairs Office and Acting Director of General Affairs. At the symposium, Professor Wu spoke highly of the far-sighted policy of the Ministry of Railways to attach importance to higher education and personnel training. But when it comes to the name of the school, he said humorously, your name is China Jiaotong University. Is Shanghai Jiaotong University called Foreign Jiaotong University? The leaders of the Ministry of Railways attached great importance to Professor Wu's opinions and sincerely stated that the Ministry of Railways would report to the State Council to change the name of China Jiaotong University. At that time, considering that the two schools under its jurisdiction were located in the north and Shanghai Jiaotong University was located in the south, it was proposed to change the name of the school to "Northern Jiaotong University". /kloc-in the autumn of 0/950, China Jiaotong University was renamed as "Northern Jiaotong University" with the approval of the State Council, the Central People's Government.
1952, due to the adjustment of departments, the name of Northern Jiaotong University was revoked, and Tangyuan and Beijing Institute became independent, becoming Tangshan Railway Institute and Beijing Railway Institute respectively.
