Shandong University of Science and Technology originated from 195 1 No.2 Coal Mine Vocational School in Shandong Mining Area established in Hongshan, Zibo and Jinan Coal Mine School established in 1956, and developed into Huainan Mining Institute and Shandong Coal Mine College respectively. 1963 Huainan Institute of Mining was revoked and merged into Shandong Institute of Coal Mining.
