General situation of foreign language college of Chongqing Normal University
School of Foreign Languages of Chongqing Normal University was founded in 1972. Its predecessor was the Foreign Languages Department of Chongqing Normal University, and 200 1 was renamed Foreign Languages College. After 42 years of development, it is a large-scale college with many levels of running schools, such as enrolling master students, undergraduates and adult students. The first-class discipline of foreign languages and literature in our college is the key discipline in Chongqing during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan. There are two disciplines, English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics. It is one of the disciplines with a long history, solid foundation, high academic level and great social influence in our school and other similar disciplines inside and outside the city.

The college has a team of teachers with academic qualifications, professional titles, reasonable age structure and high academic level. At present, there are 0/32 faculty members/kloc, including professor 10, associate professor 3 1 0, doctor 16 (5 doctors are studying), master tutor 24, off-campus part-time professor and master tutor 17. 1 1 people were selected as academic leaders in Chongqing, young and middle-aged backbone teachers in Chongqing universities, and members of Chongqing social science expert database. More than 85% of the backbone teachers have the experience of studying abroad, giving lectures and visiting schools.

The college has continuously promoted the undergraduate and postgraduate training mode and the reform of college foreign language teaching, and the quality of personnel training has been steadily improved. Our college began to recruit postgraduates of English curriculum theory on 1999. In 2006 and 2004, it was awarded the master's degree of English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, and in 2006 and 20 10, it enrolled postgraduates of English linguistics, applied linguistics, translation studies, literature and culture of English-speaking countries and Japanese language and culture. The college offers four undergraduate majors (directions): English (normal school), English (information technology), translation and Japanese, with more than 700 undergraduates/kloc-0. English (normal) major was founded in 1972, and it is an advantageous major and a school-level major that our college strives to build (in 2008). In the ranking of education majors of China University in 20 10, the English major of our college was rated as A, ranking 63/582, which was the "sunshine college entrance examination" of the Ministry of Education in 20 14. English (information technology) major is a compound major jointly established by our school and India National Institute of Information Technology, the second largest software education institution in the world, to meet the needs of the rapidly developing information industry in Chongqing and the whole country, and has broad professional development prospects.

The College has English Department, Japanese Department, Translation Department, graduate department, College Foreign Languages Department and Student Office. There are 4 school-level scientific research platforms (Modern Foreign Language and Teacher Education Research Base, East Africa Research Center, Institute of British and American Literature, Institute of Translation Culture), 10 city-level and school-level quality engineering projects, as well as a number of educational practice training bases, translation training bases jointly established by schools and enterprises, and simultaneous interpretation.

The college has made great achievements in teaching and scientific research. In the past five years, college teachers have presided over 2 national social science projects, 4 projects of the Ministry of Education, more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects and 35 other projects. Won 5 municipal awards; He has published more than 500 papers in academic journals at home and abroad, such as Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Foreign Language and Foreign Literature Review. Published more than 40 monographs, textbooks and translations.

The work of college students is rich in content and distinctive in characteristics. Five independent innovation brand activities, such as the development plan of students' ability and quality, the establishment of polyhedral training camp, simulated job fair, foreign language festival and party member 1 10 service group, have played an important role in improving students' comprehensive quality and enhancing their core competitiveness.

The college has continuously strengthened academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, and maintained friendly and cooperative relations with British, American and Japanese consulates, Chongqing Foreign Affairs Bureau and other units. At present, the college is further gathering outstanding talents, streamlining the subject direction, deepening the teaching reform, upgrading the files, accelerating the connotation development, establishing a multi-level and multi-standard foreign language teaching system that meets the needs of society, cultivating high-quality foreign language teachers and foreign language professionals with solid language basic skills, strong professional ability and good comprehensive quality, and becoming a leading foreign language teacher training base in the west and having important influence in China. Since its establishment, the School of Foreign Languages has trained more than 3,500 graduates majoring in English education, English language and literature, business English and tourism English. After systematic professional knowledge study and solid basic skills training in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, graduates can be competent for English teaching in colleges and secondary schools, as well as language research, translation, foreign-related tourism, secretarial work and business.
