Taiyuan University of Technology is a national "double-class" key construction university formed by the merger of the former Taiyuan University of Technology and the former Shanxi Institute of Mining. After 1 17, the school has been built into an industry-oriented, science-engineering-integrated and multidisciplinary institution of higher learning. It is the first batch of pilot universities in the national "2 1 1 Project" and the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and the key construction universities in the national "College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Plan". It has been successively rated as "Excellent Undergraduate Teaching Unit in Ordinary Colleges and Universities", "National Civilized Unit" and "National Civilized Campus", selected as "the first batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform", "national demonstration base for cultivating innovative talents" and "national experimental university for innovation and entrepreneurship in practical education" by the Ministry of Education, and won the "National May 1st Labor Award" and "National Advanced Grassroots Party Organization".

The school is rooted in the land of Sanjin, with a broad platform and abundant talents. At present, the school covers an area of more than 3,200 mu, with a building area of 1.49 million square meters. There are 30,800 full-time undergraduates, 6,220 graduate students, 763 doctoral students and 485 international students. There are 84 undergraduate courses, 34 first-class masters, 5 first-class doctors 13 postdoctoral mobile stations13, and seven types of professional degree authorization points. There are 3 national key disciplines, 4 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 5 national specialty construction sites, 7 national "engineering practice education centers", 4 national key laboratory cultivation bases 1 each, 4 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 2 innovation teams of key fields of the Ministry of Science and Technology 1 each, and 3 disciplines of the Ministry of Education, including engineering, material science and chemistry. Dormitory conditions:

Taiyuan University of Technology has four-person dormitory and six-person dormitory. Eight people live in bunk beds. There is no balcony, no separate bathroom, no separate desk, no air conditioning, only a fan and a network cable.
