In order to adapt China hybrid wheat to local conditions, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry established a breeding base in Yuanmou, Yunnan Province, and the climate in Yuanmou was similar to that in Pakistani wheat area by 20 13. Before being shipped to Pakistan, all wheat varieties have passed the identification and screening of Yuanmou base for many years. However, whether the new hybrid wheat in China can adapt to the local water and soil still affects the hearts of researchers in both countries.
John Zhang's full name, "Because of the different ecological environment and climatic conditions, hybrid rice was still somewhat' acclimatized' when it first arrived in Pakistan." With strong sunshine and high temperature, hybrid wheat grows well, with large and long ears, but it also brings "sweet sorrow"-strong tillering ability, which increases the danger of lodging.
In order to solve this "worry", Chinese researchers have tried many times to introduce dwarf germplasm resources to reduce the plant height of hybrid wheat and effectively improve the lodging resistance. Zhang Shengquan said that after the annual trial planting, researchers will further improve the varieties with unsatisfactory performance while retaining the varieties with good performance.
Choose different varieties from different wheat regions. After several years of trial planting, researchers have basically determined the most suitable China hybrid wheat varieties for planting in Pakistan, and explored the most reasonable planting techniques for each variety, laying a solid foundation for promoting industrialization.
After more than 120 cross combinations and more than 230 planting sites, the two-line hybrid wheat in China performed outstandingly, with an average yield increase of 24.4% compared with local varieties. The annual trial of 2017-2018 showed that the wheat yield in northern Pakistan increased by 50. 1%. In the middle wheat area where Guardian Agricultural Company is located, the yield of hybrid wheat increased by more than 45%.
Real data make China hybrid wheat highly recognized in Pakistan. Peshawar Agricultural University has organized two international conferences for discussion, and proposed to establish a joint research center between China and China to promote the hybrid wheat of Peshawar Agricultural University to enter more countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
