According to the query of Huaqiao University in official website, Huaqiao University was designated as "National Key University" by the Central Committee of Huaqiao University on 1983. 1997, the former Jimei Overseas Chinese Tutorial School located in Jimei School Village, Xiamen, Fujian Province was merged into Huaqiao University and renamed as the Chinese College of Huaqiao University. In 2003, the school was rated as excellent in the first batch of undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education. In 2006, Xiamen Campus officially opened. On 20 17, the school was selected as a "double-class" construction university in Fujian Province.
