The Music Department of Tan Kah Kee College of Xiamen University was founded in 2004, and enrolled students nationwide in the same year. It now has two majors: musicology and music performance. The Music Department has an excellent team of teachers, including senior professors and associate professors from the Art College of Xiamen University, young performers who have returned from overseas study, and 39 young and middle-aged teachers with high academic qualifications and professional level who graduated from major music colleges in China, including 8 professors and 65,438+00 associate professors.

Based on the talent training keynote of Tan Kah Kee College, which is "broad caliber, thick foundation, emphasizing ability and seeking individuality", the music department embodies the characteristics of flexibility and practicality in curriculum setting. While the main course pays attention to the combination of theory and practice courses, it also provides students with a wealth of elective courses, allowing students to have more space for self-cultivation and self-design.

High-standard teaching facilities are a favorable guarantee for good teaching. To this end, the Music Department is specially equipped with an electric piano classroom, a dance rehearsal hall, a multimedia music classroom, 80 piano rooms with good sound insulation facilities, and a multi-functional interpretation hall with sound equipment.

It has always been the aim of the music department to cultivate high-quality and all-round music talents for the society. The Music Department has achieved fruitful teaching results since its establishment nearly five years ago. From 2004 to 2006, he participated in many welcome parties and holiday parties held by the college, and was well received. In recent years, students of our department have won dozens of prizes in various professional competitions in provinces and cities. Wang Bo, a student majoring in guzheng, won the silver prize in the youth group of guzheng performance in the first national art talent selection competition sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. Ding participated in the Asian Charm Rookie Competition sponsored by the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese of the Ministry of Culture and won the Top Ten Award of Young Bel Canto Group in Shanghai Division. Su Lili won the third prize of electronic piano solo in the first Fujian Electronic Keyboard Musical Instrument Competition. Sun Ke won the bronze medal in the 10th "Feeling Zone" accordion competition in Fujian Province. In May 2006, the choir of our department won the gold medal in the first Xiamen University Student Art Show. In the 4th world choir games held in Xiamen in July of the same year, the choir of our department won the silver prize.

Training objectives: This major trains professionals who have certain basic knowledge of music theory and musical performance ability, and can engage in performance, teaching and research in professional literary and art groups, art colleges and other relevant departments and institutions.

Graduation destination: graduates can engage in singing, creation and music production in TV stations, song and dance theaters (groups), TV drama production centers, propaganda departments and cultural and educational institutions, and engage in teaching and scientific research in colleges and universities, primary and secondary schools; You can also further study for a master's degree in this major and related majors.
