Jinan University, referred to as "Jinan University", is headquartered in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is directly under the leadership of the Central United Front Work Department and is jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the United Front Work Department and Guangdong Province.
The school's predecessor was Jinan School, which was founded by the Qing government in Nanjing on 1906. Later, it moved to Shanghai, and 1927 was renamed as National Jinan University. During his stay in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, he moved to Jianyang, Fujian.
1946 moved back to Shanghai,1949 merged with Fudan University, Jiaotong University and other universities in August. After the founding of New China, Jinan University was rebuilt in Guangzhou, 1958. Suspended during the Cultural Revolution, 1978 reopened in Guangzhou.
Ma Yinchu, Li, Zheng Zhenduo, Liang Shiqiu,, Qian Zhongshu, Zhou,,, Yan Jici, Chu Tunan, Huang Binhong, Pan Tianshou, Shen Congwen, Luo Longji, Yang Rumei and many other famous scholars have emerged in the history of Jinan University.
There are 2,732 full-time teachers in Jinan University, including 8 academicians of the two academies (including double employment), 9 foreign academicians, 2 1 person selected by the Ministry of Education for major talent projects, 43 winners of Jie Qing and You Qing, 48 "Pearl River Scholars", 2 national teaching masters, 902 full-time and deputy senior titles 1064.
