How to make a picture book of your own is generally used for children's education. Picture books can not only tell stories and learn knowledge, but also help children build up their spirit and cultivate multiple intelligences in an all-round way (picture books are different from ordinary picture books). If you want to make a picture book for yourself, you can consider it from many aspects.
If you want to draw your own picture book, you need to make the corresponding conception, outline and knowledge system in advance, plus some interesting storylines and meaningful language embellishment.
You can make picture books from the following points:
Before making a picture book, you should make a list of the outline of the whole picture book, which is a category similar to books, so that you can quickly find the information points you want to know and the prompt information that can provide help in time.
This is for people with good hand-drawing skills or painting skills, who can think about their personal image and the general image characteristics of people around them or other things in advance. At this time, you need to think about the picture in advance, and then use it to draw picture books in different links. The picture should be as simple as possible, not too many colors.
After the basic pictures are finished, you can properly attach interesting articles or punctuation marks to each picture to express the atmosphere, intonation and context that can be expressed. I don't recommend too many words here, it's simple and clear.
Fourth, positive energy.
Pay attention to the storage and transmission of positive energy in graphic collocation. Although it is my own picture book, it at least gives me a life, work and social characteristics that describe personal growth, personal events and personal interests. When you look back, you can give yourself a brand-new energy transfer, improve or increase your knowledge of a skill.
Being able to pay attention to all aspects of knowledge, or sorting out the whole process, will be a summary and general idea of the picture book; If you have a special idea, it's ok to match it at will according to interesting stories. We can try to be casual and live a little, but being too deliberate will cause a kind of pressure and fail to achieve the original intention of making picture books. You can make picture books from the following points:
1. Outline:

About this time last year, I gave myself a gift-I signed up for an amateur illustration course, and the picture book was the last assignment. Although I made it myself for fun, I still feel very fulfilled when I finally saw the finished product! At the graduation exhibition of illustration course, there are also many guest officials who want to buy it. So here, I will share some experiences in the recording process with experts studying Hui Mei education, so that interested children's shoes can have a train of thought, and also prevent them from remembering when they are old, which is convenient for future reference. Since this is my first time, please give me many answers if I am wrong.
Then a picture book is created from scratch, which is introduced to you by experts who read Hui Mei education. The production of picture books can be roughly divided into the following stages:
First, the story concept and text
Second, the role design
Fourth, draw a draft.
Verb (abbreviation for verb) scanning and layout editing
Six, output printing
Let's talk about it one by one.
First, the story concept and text
As for picture books, there are stories besides paintings. Sometimes it is ready-made, written by others and entrusted to illustrators; Sometimes the illustrator acts as a writer himself and wants to draw himself. The story can be coherent or prose/poetry/diary, but the most important thing is to have a "theme", that is, what you want to express and what information you want to bring to the readers.
Here are some themes/sources of inspiration:
Interest in life found in daily life
Encounter something that moves you.
Reflect on some social phenomena and problems.
Attitudes and values towards life/the world
Once you have the theme and outline, you can refine the text. This step is like writing a script. Only with the script can we know what scene to put the role in, what to perform next and how to perform it.
Second, the role design
It's time to enter the casting stage! Different from filming, the director can only choose from the existing actors. By making his own picture book, you can create a role that fully meets your requirements! You can give a character personality and characteristics, shape his/her appearance, expression, etc. Or personify animals into characters, or even bring things that can't be alive back to life.
Take chestnuts for example. There is only one character in my simple picture book. She is designed as a chubby little girl who is about 6 years old and a little insecure. At first, I posted some sketches at random, then I chose a satisfactory one to settle down, and then I designed expressions according to some possible ones, so that I could have reference when drawing manuscripts in the future, which is very convenient.

I think this stage is a very important step. With stories and characters, you can use smaller pictures to show the paging and format of the story layout, and continuously show the development of the whole story. The significance of drawing a small picture here is that you can easily conceive the picture performance, quickly grasp the whole and make changes. Reading Hui Mei Education teaches us to draw the whole picture book, not the illustration, so it is important to change the angle. If the whole book is full of headshots, it will make people feel bored. When sketching, you should think more about how to make the picture more diverse.
After all the paintings are finished, you can arrange them as a whole, check the consistency between the illustrations and confirm whether the density rhythm is appropriate.

In the sketch stage, you can also consider the arrangement of colors, which can be a unified tone as a whole, or you can try to arrange different tones on each page, mainly based on the aesthetic feeling of the picture, depending on your personal feelings.

Fourth, draw a draft.
The next step is to refine and color the sketches one by one until they are all finished. If you think of a better plan halfway, you can continue to adjust. Due to a lot of preparatory work in the early stage, when drawing a manuscript, you can always control it within a range, so you don't have to worry about getting lost (whether it is good to engage in art casually or plan it accurately is not discussed here). This step is the most time-consuming and tiring. Keep it up! Just draw a little every day, and it will be finished one day ~

Emma finally got it through eighty-one difficulties! Take it and scan it! I would like to share my lesson here, that is, the hand-drawn manuscript can be scanned carefully without drawing too much. First of all, we know that there is something called dpi. Generally 300dpi is enough for printing. If a very small manuscript is scanned to 1200dpi, theoretically it can still have 300dpi when magnified four times, so the manuscript doesn't need to be really big, especially when we don't have enough strength. If it is too big, the picture will be difficult to control.
The scanned manuscript will adopt RGB color mode. If you make an e-book, you have no problem at all. If you want to print, you need to switch to CMYK mode. Usually the color saturation will decrease, which is also a helpless move. Put all kinds of tools in PS to restore the original color as much as possible! Where the picture collapses, it can also be corrected.
When all the drawings are ready, they can be typeset. I use InDesign here, which is very convenient and easy to learn. Because there are few words in picture books, it is basically to open the file, set the page size, number of pages, bleeding line, drag the picture, type the text and export it as pdf ~

Render InDesign ultra-simple tutorial.
Say one more thing about the bleeding line. At present, the printing industry is printing paper first and then cutting it, instead of cutting paper first and then printing it all over the paper. Even if it is machine cutting, there will be some errors, and this "bleeding" part is the allowable error range. For example, if we plan to make a book of 2 10x2 10mm, then at least 3 mm bleeding position should be reserved, that is, the manuscript should be 2 13x2 13 mm, and even if others cut it, you won't feel sad. You can't put words and other important things in it.

As for why use pdf? Borrowing the introduction of a printing shop in Shanggang, pdf has six advantages:
1. Flexibility: PDF solves the problems of software incompatibility and font replacement. PDF contains all font, image, color and format data, so there is no need to worry about the lack of text or graphics in the printed document.
2. Efficient: After the file is converted into PDF, the file size is smaller than the original file, which is convenient for online transmission.
3. Reliability: the document content is consistent with the printed matter, which reduces the risk of damage when other design documents are converted into printed format.
4. Security: PDF is not easy to be changed or modified, which ensures the security of files.
5. Integrity: The appearance of the PDF file is consistent with the original document, and the original format, color, font and image of the file are retained, which is convenient for proofreading before printing.
6. Universal: Most software can be converted into PDF, such as office software or various design software, which is the mainstream document format printed at present.
When I took the manuscript out for printing, I found that many stores do have preferpdf format now. After all, the probability of everyone making mistakes is reduced, and many disputes and misunderstandings can be avoided.
Six, output printing
Everything is ready, just need to find a reliable printing/printing shop to print the manuscript! Now there are many searches for "printed books" on a treasure, or just look for them in the city where you live. The advantage of a physical store is that you can choose paper intuitively. There are still many technical differences in printed books, such as hardcover cover, mounting method, film pasting, thermal UV, punching and so on. You can learn more about the store and achieve the desired results.
