Quanzhou Teachers College is located in Quanzhou, the first batch of famous historical and cultural cities in China, the first cultural capital of East Asia, the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road and a world heritage city. The school, formerly known as Quanzhou University Teachers College, was founded in 1958. After several changes, it experienced the development process of renaming, closing and reopening.

In 2000, Quanzhou Teachers College was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the first newly-built local and provincial undergraduate college in Fujian Province.
