Jena University has never been my first choice. At that time, the so-called dream school was actually Uni Greifswald (Greifswald University) in the northeast. Greifswald is a small place and the university is small, but it is very old. Established on 1456. "The classroom is not big, but the stool you are sitting on may be 500 years ago." This is a sentence on the website of Greifswald University. When I saw this sentence, I was really fascinated. In addition, Greifswald is the hometown of my favorite painter Caspar David Friedrich, and there is a gallery specially built for him.
20 10, the peak school season in August, and I didn't receive the notice at that time. I am anxious, for example, I don't want to see anyone under a quilt every day, and I am afraid that others will ask me why I haven't been to Germany yet and when I will go to Germany. After all, it was the last semester of my sophomore year. In order to go to Germany to start my undergraduate studies again, I had to suspend my studies in China. If you don't make it, you will not only be one level lower than your classmates, but also leave an excuse of "not making it to Germany and then going back to reread" for people to laugh at. I was extremely unstable at that time. One day, my father and I had a terrible quarrel. I don't remember what happened. I only remember that I locked the door, and I wrapped myself in a quilt in midsummer until I had difficulty breathing. The day after the big fight, the notice from Jena University arrived. Suddenly, the big stone in my heart finally fell to the ground and people became normal.
Although the letter of admission to Jena University was not my first choice, I was also afraid that it would be my only letter of admission, so I immediately set off for Beijing to go through the relevant formalities and prepare to start my undergraduate career in Jena. Ironically, just as I applied for a visa in Jena, the admission notice from Greifswald University arrived.
Anyway, Jena, just Jena.
It is also a little bit of fate. I read a book called Studying in Germany in high school. The author of this book is a German teacher studying in Jena University. It said that Jena was in East Germany, and the Nazis would cause trouble. It is also said that Hegel and Schiller used to teach here, and our great socialist friend Karl Marx got his doctorate here. Carl zeiss makes the optics of Jena University shine.
However, the information found in Wikipedia and Baidu Encyclopedia in the book didn't leave me much impression on the city and the university, but a short story left a deep impression on me.
A big difference between German universities and China universities is that you have to choose your own courses and take your own exams, which means that many careless students forget to register for classes and exams every year. A friend of the author forgot to register for the exam, which shows that the course was in vain. Because next semester, the situation will become complicated. Otherwise, the teacher of this course will change, or this course will be held once a year. In short, it is unimaginable to miss the exam registration and pay the time cost. Friends who forgot to register for the exam asked their friends how to solve this thorny problem. The University of Jena Examination Center (Aspa) is notoriously strict, and most of the staff are unsmiling and very serious. Why convince them? A group of people have racked their brains. Finally, a friend who missed the exam wrote an email to the exam center, saying that he was affected by lovelorn and cried his eyes out every day, so he forgot to register for the exam, so he could bend the rules and make up the exam. I finished the email with the mentality of being a dead horse and waiting for the reply from the test center. I didn't expect the test center to accept this reason and give her an exam.
I also indirectly understand the greatness of the examination center of Jena University. At that time, a classmate who also entered Jena University to study German as a foreign language failed a course in psychology in the second semester. Unfortunately, he failed this course when he took the make-up exam. This is very serious, because everyone only has two chances to take the exam. The examination center talked to him and gave him two choices, either dropping out of school or changing majors. I don't know how he finally chose, but I have never seen this classmate again.
If the University of Jena is different from other German universities, it must be mentioned that Johann Friedrich I stood in the market square with a sword in his hand and a book in his hand, always wearing a mini skirt and tights. He founded this school on 1547. During the doctoral graduation season, we often see such a scene in the square. The graduates took wreaths and tried to throw them out, hoping that the wreaths could be hung on uncle John Friedrich's sword to commemorate the uncle who founded the University of Jena, and to express their sincere thanks to those who studied here.
For me, there is another difference between Jena University and other German universities. Kunstgeschichte's major in Jena University is actually Kunst Geschichte and Filmwissenschaft. In other words, when studying art history at Jena University, you can choose to study art history, film science or both. As a Libra AB blood type, it is too difficult for me to choose, so let's cross study. Film study is the most enjoyable semester of my study in Jena University. I watched movies in the discussion class, discussing scene scheduling, color and montage. Watch Wong Kar-wai and Siegel Eisenstein in the big class. Every Tuesday, I go to Schiller Hoff Cafe Cinema to watch movies and write movies. I remember watching buster keaton's comedy for the first time. It was here that the audience gave an explosive laugh. It was so cold that I couldn't help laughing my head off. However, I sometimes encounter one or two boring movies. I always felt that I was poor, unconscious and artistic, but once I was dismissed, my classmates asked me, hey, did you sleep? I sleep most of the time. I don't know what to say about this movie. Just go back to Wikipedia. After that, when I saw professors holding champagne and students drinking beer, I thought it was because they wanted to watch boring movies and relied solely on alcohol to help him sleep.
Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, in 20 14, Jena University laid off many majors, and film studies was one of them. In order to resist the cuts of Jena University, students organized many protest movements, and I also left my name in the joint book. However, the school finally issued a notice that Jena University will no longer offer film major after 20 16.
Sommerfest is a traditional festival of Jena University, which is held every summer. Jena University, like other universities in Germany, actually has no concept of campus. All teaching points are distributed all over the city. Summer celebrations are mainly held near botanical gardens and planetariums, with live performances, sketches and band's manual activities, culminating in lighting performances. In fact, these are all very good and can be felt everywhere. In my opinion, the highlight of the whole midsummer celebration is to go to bed after 0: 00 every time, not because of how famous the DJ is and how hard the stereo is, but because the kicking place is in the planetarium, and the cool picture on the dome screen follows the rhythm of the music. Everyone here is trying to cure cervical spondylosis, which is very interesting.
It is said that after Britain left the EU, Germany was immediately promoted to the hegemony of dark cuisine in the EU. To tell you the truth, I don't think German food is so bad. Of course, I'm talking about the food in the restaurant, the canteen of Jena University, which is divided into two parts. First of all, the student canteen of Jena University can be described as the conscience canteen, and the price is approachable, which makes me feel more cost-effective than eating at home. But it depends on two things, one is the mood of the aunts who added rice, and the other is the mood of the chef. Sometimes I suspect that aunts cook for people with their heads, and sometimes they are often treated unfairly when cooking. Obviously, a pork chop with 2 euros and potato pieces will make my pork chop half smaller than others. Aunt Gami usually doesn't love me, but I met a brother Gami who loved me. Once I went to play with sausages and mashed potatoes, my little brother dug me a big spoon first and asked me if I had enough. I said no, and he gave me another big spoon. I smiled at him happily. I really hope to see him often in the future, but that was the last time I saw him. The chef's mood is even more elusive than that of the rice-adding aunts. Butter curry sauce potatoes block, rice with hot and sour sauce, onion, raisin pineapple salad, why can't you make spaghetti well? After all, it is the most cost-effective (1.5 Euro) and delicious meal in the dining hall of Jena University.
In fact, the University of Jena has several canteens, one on campus, one in Hauptgebeude, one on Shi Zhe Road and one in Medical College. If you count carl zeiss who is skilled in Jena, there is another one, but these are all cheap canteens, and the price is between 1.5 and 4 euros. There is a canteen in the city center called Rosenkeller, which should be the king of Jena University. Beautiful environment, no need to collect vegetables by yourself, and waiters. Of course, the price is slightly higher, but the food is relatively delicious. It is often difficult to find one at noon. Once, I decided to finish all my dinner in Rosenkeller. Although this goal was not achieved in the end, most of the meals were basically tried. The price here will be much higher, about 3.5 to 10 euros.
What's the experience of studying in Jena University? How can I put it?
I'm honored.
