Wuhan University is surrounded by East Lake and located on Luojia Mountain. Palace-style early buildings on campus, which combine Chinese and western styles, are simple, elegant and magnificent, and can be called "the masterpiece and model of modern China University campus architecture". A number of early buildings of Wuhan University were listed as "National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units" by the State Council.
