Historical changes of the University of Florida
The history of the University of Florida can be traced back to 1853, when it was the State Eastern Florida Theological Seminary in Okala, eastern Florida. Later, it merged with Florida Agricultural College, 1905 moved to Gainesville (also known as Gainesville), and was officially named the University of Florida. 1906 started classes, students were limited to men, and women were not admitted until 1947.

The University of Florida was formerly known as East Florida State Theological Seminary, 1853. 19 In the 1960s, the seminary merged with Florida Agricultural University. 1905, the University of Florida was formally established with legal permission. As the oldest, largest and most comprehensive institution of higher learning in Florida, the University of Florida is one of the most diversified public universities in the United States, with a long history of formal courses and international teaching and research.
