Qingdao University of Science and Technology, formerly known as Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology, formerly known as Shenyang Light Industry Higher Vocational School, was founded in September 1950. /kloc-0 moved to Qingdao in August, 1956 and changed its name to Qingdao Rubber Industry School. /kloc-0 was established as Shandong institute of chemical technology in September 1958, and/kloc-0 was renamed as Qingdao institute of chemical technology in September 1984.
The school has two campuses: the school is located in Qingdao Shilaoren National Tourism Resort, with beautiful scenery, covering an area of more than 2,000 mu and an existing school building area of more than 300,000 square meters; Sifang Campus is located in the old city, with trees and a strong cultural atmosphere, covering an area of 553.7 mu and an existing school building area of more than 300,000 square meters. The school has more than 2,000 faculty members, including 675 senior titles. There are more than 23,000 full-time students, including doctoral and master students 1000.
The school has the right to award bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctor's degree. It is the first batch of schools in China to obtain the right to award bachelor's degree and the third batch of schools in China to obtain the right to award master's degree. The discipline construction of the school has formed its own distinctive characteristics in materials science, chemical engineering, applied chemistry, mechanical engineering, information and control engineering and so on.
The school adheres to the central position of teaching, and has trained more than 70,000 senior professional and technical personnel for the society since its establishment. The school attaches importance to scientific research and has created a "university of science and technology phenomenon" which has attracted wide attention from the society. Since 10, it has won 13 National Technological Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award and Ministry of Science and Technology 1 DuPont Science and Technology Innovation Award. According to the three national scientific and technological achievements rankings (1997 ~ 1999) of the national academy of educational sciences, the school ranks fifth in the national technological invention award and 74th in the national scientific and technological progress award. According to the ranking of university patent applications issued by the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education (1985 ~ 2000), it ranks 67th among universities in China and first among provincial universities. In 2005, the papers included in SCI ranked 47th in the national universities, and the papers included in EI ranked 100 in the national universities.
